Our Story

Gwaidhi Foundation was born in Bujagali village when its founder, Gwaidhi Mahad, turned personal loss into purpose. During the COVID-19 pandemic he lost his father, the family’s main provider, and as the firstborn of eight children he suddenly carried the responsibility of caring for his younger siblings.

While struggling to support his own family, other vulnerable children and neighbours began coming to him for help. With very little, he shared food, encouragement and a listening ear. What started as one young man caring for his siblings grew into a community effort supporting orphans, widows, single mothers, older persons and people with disabilities.

From that small beginning, Gwaidhi Foundation emerged as a symbol of resilience and service, a reminder that you do not need to have everything to make a difference, only a heart willing to serve.
